Project Synopsis
Dreamqueen Collective is seeking performers for The Last Resort, an immersive, dance-based theatre piece wherein audience members explore a seventies-style tropical resort run by psychopomps and populated by the glamorous damned. Over the course of an hour and fifteen minutes, resort guests can dine with the Devil, take in Death’s hypnotic cabaret performances, swap drinking stories with the Queen of Cups, and find a way to escape the purgatory in paradise where the sun never stops setting. Featuring fifteen performers whom audiences will be able to follow across multiple interweaving storylines, The Last Resort is a new immersive theatre experience from the creator of Alice in Glitterland, Neverland Night Circus and Kill the Ripper, and will run for three Sundays this November at the Waldorf on Hastings Street.
Additional Information & Safety Protocols:

Audition format: Please come dressed for movement. If you have dance heels and feel comfortable, please bring them. The audition will be comprised of a short group dance call, a group improvised movement call, and individual/duo cold reads from the show.

Description
The proprietor of the Hereafter Bar, whose primary concern is keeping all the plates spinning, everyone calm, everyone chit-chatting with a cocktail in hand, everyone too warm and cozy to think hard about how long forever is. Calls for a strong improviser/competent mover.
Character 2
The Magician

Description
The Activities Coordinator of the Last Resort. Flashy and showy, he’s Mr. Temperance’s primary point person between him and the guests. A pervasive force of positivity and “everybody dance!” In love with Death. Bonus points if the actor is a magician who moves.

Temptation for the formerly human guests of The Last Resort. Loves taunting the Magician and staff with their frisky, rule-breaking presence. Loves to seduce guests into giving up their chance at Paradise. They can get you anything you need, at any time… except for the one thing you need most.

The Star

Description
A fading movie star who was hoping for a big comeback before she got onto that cruise ship. Wants love that’s too big to find. Wants adulation to drown out the fear and loathing in her head. …Wants a paradox, and those are impossible to find and keep.
Additional Characters

The Hanged Man - A novelist who never intended to come back from the cruise, but not like this. He has his typewriter hidden away, but the rest of him is missing. Can he find it? Or will he end stuck in a loop?

Luna - Assistant to Mr. Temperance - She is dreamy and caring, people-pleasing endlessly to ensure her comfort remains eternal. A strong improviser who moves.

Judgement - A snooty concierge, the yang to the Magician’s ying, who is quietly observing all guests at all times and disapproves of the new measures being taken to “coddle and comfort” souls that are waiting for their final accounting. Judgement insists they know what’s best for everyone at all times, no matter what the individual opines. He may be one of the oldest forces here at the Last Resort, the only one who remembers and values what it was like “before.”

First Lover - Codependent and dreamy. More independent, wanting to find what’s beyond paradise.

Second Lover - Codependent and dreamy, and fine with it.

The Fool - A spoiled rich kid who will try anything once. The Fool has money, but it’s no good at The Last Resort. The Fool wants to feel… but can’t, no matter what they try. Who won’t they try to seduce? Nobody, that’s who. Someone has to hold the key to their mother’s love and the emptiness in the pit of their stomach, surely.
