Project Synopsis
When Ricky returns home from his morning run, his 8-month pregnant girlfriend Julia is gone. His phone is flashing with a flurry of missed calls, and a message letting him know that Julia was taken to hospital. Ricky is left to contemplate the consequences of missing the birth of his child and the possibly of losing Julia as he navigates his way to the hospital.
Character 1
Ricky (Richard)
Age
30s
Gender
Male
Description
Young professional working in tech. Somewhere between corporate and alterative. Hardworking, though occasionally absent minded. Has difficulty expressing himself. Having doubts about becoming a father. Ricky grew up with a single working father who spent very little time with him, as a result Ricky views working as his most important pursuit in life. Despite this dedication he's slowly grown more and more dissatisfied with his working life. Unfortunately the reality of soon becoming a father has left him in a state of emotional paralysis, unable to admit that what he may want or even need, is not what's about to happen.
Character 2
Julia
Age
30s
Gender
Female
Description
Ricky's overly patient partner. Julia is thoughtful, detail oriented, and slightly subdued. She has been having doubts about Ricky's commitment to their family but has done her best to push these feelings aside. Neither her or Ricky expected the pregnancy but Ricky managed to convince her that it could be the perfect next step for their family. Julia agreed to slowly step back from her work as an interior designer and allowed Ricky to support both of them. Julia's lack of work has pulled her closer to Ricky, while his increasing need to work has pushed him further away. With little support from her parents and a friend group who've continuously expressed their contempt for Ricky, Julia has had little to do but bear the stress of the pregnancy on her own.
