“I Absolutely Hate This Place” is a mixed-media short film and a queer story involving Omar, who is searching for love but struggles to find someone. As he begins blaming his imperfections, his body dysmorphia takes on a life of its own through the use of mixed media. This personification of his body dysmorphia leads him to confront his insecurities, ultimately arriving at the realization that to love someone, we must first learn to accept and love ourselves. At its core, this film is about self-discovery. Entirely dialogue-free, it relies on visuals and sound design to bring Omar’s emotional journey to life.
