Project Synopsis
In a society where a rare genetic mutation rendered few people invisible, Aster the racially ‘colorless’ man struggles to find a purpose in a world that no longer acknowledges his existence. Aster’s journey questions whether being seen is essential for existence or if there’s something deeper to one’s humanity. In a race against time, Aster must come to terms with a social placement blind to his presence.

Character 1
Aster
Age
Mid 20’s
Gender
Male
Description
(Main Protagonist):East-Asian - An introverted, submissive East-Asian sales associate who works at The Manager’s clothing shop. Due to his condition of being invisible/’colorless’, Aster is the constant target of mistreatment, bullying and harassment by his coworkers, neighbors and people in general. Despite being fully aware of the constant punishment he faces, Aster has become totally accustomed and complacent of being overlooked and treated harshly by others. Thus, Aster reverts to internalizing his problems as a coping mechanism and is in a constant struggle with himself.
Character 2
Gwen
Age
20’s
Gender
Female
Description
(Any Ethnicity) A charismatic coworker of Aster’s at The Manager’s clothing shop whose presence alone captures the admiration and envy of others in the room. She is happy with the status quo and believes maintaining the current social system is the smartest path to continued success. Although Gwen has a basic sense of morality, she chooses to overlook the system’s corruption to protect her own career and reputation. As one of Aster’s few cordial acquaintances, Gwen struggles between doing the right thing for Aster or salvaging what’s she’s worked for her entire life.
Character 3
Cateria
Age
20’s
Gender
Female
Description
(Any Ethnicity) Another coworker of Aster’s at The Manager’s clothing shop who is driven by a strong sense of social justice and leadership, constantly questioning the system’s unfairness and exploitative practices. Cateria is determined to bring change and takes active measures to fight for it. However, deep down inside, Cateria harbors jealousy and envy towards Gwen. Even though she sees herself as ‘righteous’, her grudge against Gwen’s success clouds her judgement, actions and most importantly her ideals.
Character 4
The Manager/The Director
Age
40-50’s
Gender
Male
Description
The Manager of the clothing shop oversees his employees including Aster, Gwen and Cateria. Although he recognizes the system’s flaws and corruption, he has no interest in changing it. Instead, he justifies exploiting others to preserve the system, himself and the status quo. The Director is a meticulous perfectionist artiste who is filming a mockumentary about Aster and his ‘colorless’ status in society. He prioritizes in avoiding risks and believes obedience is the most rational choice for survival. For him, one sees what one wants to see, not what truly exists in front of one’s eyes.
