Project Synopsis
In a dim bar, Naoko's heart is a shell of itself, haunted by the addictive push-pull of her current relationship.
Her partner, Amadeo, walks in like a ghost. He plays a song after song on the bar’s old jukebox. With every note, she finds herself deeper in the painful recollections of loving someone who is incapable of reciprocating her feelings.
Those Days is a surreal-romantic short film set in 90's melancholia. Its pacing is driven more-so by music, style and chemistry than heavy dialogue or strict narrative form. This project draws heavily from the works of Hong-Kong director Wong Kar-Wai, namely the cult classic Fallen Angels (1995).
There are no physically intimate scenes in our script eg. kissing, suggested nudity or simulations etc. Close interaction between Naoko and Amadeo consists of a brief slow dance, which may include hand holding, depending on the comfort of our cast.
There is no fighting or yelling, or s*xual/physical trauma in the script, or in the historical context of the characters. The relationship turmoil comes from not being able to express one's personal needs in a romantic complex. If there are any concerns over the handling of this subject matter, please email us. We prioritize the emotional safety and wellbeing of our cast and crew in all stages of production.
