Music
Please prepare two contrasting contemporary musical theatre songs (1990 - present). One uptempo and one ballad. Please prepare a cut of 90 seconds maximum, you may be asked to sing only one of them.

Songs can be from stage, movie, or TV musicals, jukebox musicals are allowed. Please bring a karaoke or instrumental track on your device.

An accompanist will not be provided, please do not sing acapella. The song should be memorized, and we are looking for acting and character choices to be made during song audition.

Choreography
You will be asked to do a short movement piece to gauge your abilities, please dress comfortably, and character shoes are optional but not required.

Acting
You will be doing a minimum of one cold-reading of a scene from the show, you will be paired with a reader, or another actor that is also auditioning.

Please bring your theatre resume (if you have one) and a headshot would be helpful as well if you have one.

Project Synopsis
About the musical: A young romance author is struggling to get published, while having to fight off her siblings setting her up on blind dates, and debating the merits of all the different genres she could be writing. Will Aurelie manage to get past her Once Upon A Time and get her Happily Ever After? According to Aurelie: A Musical by Lauren Trotzuk, directed by Tarrah Tanaka with musical direction by Lauren Trotzuk, presented by Langley Little Theatre.

Mezzo with soprano belt G3-G5 The lead - an aspiring romance novelist with big dreams and big goals.
Additional Characters

Joey: (M, Tenor A2-Gb4) A fellow writer and Aurelie's confidante. Will also play Deacon.

Ms Bayer: (F, Mezzo/Alto) Aurelie's editor. She's tough but often has helpful constructive
criticism. Will also play Sherlock Holmes & Background Date 1.

Yvonne: (F, Mezzo/Alto): Aurelie's sister, she's always the one Aurelie comes to when she needs
comfort or advice. Will also play Alien & be in the Ensemble.

PJ: (M, Tenor) Aurelie's lovable and endlessly energetic brother. The same actor will also play Jedi & be in the Ensemble.

Mel Connors: (F, Mezzo F3-F5) Aurelie's nemesis, she's the quintessential "mean girl". Will also play Writer 3 & Eugenia.

Mindy: (F, Mezzo with Belt, G3-E5) A server at the restaurant where Aurelie is being forced into blind dates. Will also play Writer 4 and Sparkle Vamp.

Writer 1: (M, Tenor) One of Aurelie's fellow writers trying to get published. Will also play Blind Date 1, Blind Date 3, Wizard, & Man On Phone.

Writer 2: (M, Baritone) One of Aurelie's fellow writers trying to get published. Will play Blind Date 2, Spanish Date, Dracula, & Final Date.

Writer 5: (F, Mezzo) One of Aurelie's fellow writers trying to get published. Will also be Aurelie's understudy, background date 2 and Wolf Girl.

We are flexible with ages and will be casting the right fit for the role. If you feel connected to a role, please audition.
