Fred, a socially anxious recluse, is content to keep the world outside, until Spooky, the ghost haunting his home, reveals that he’s fading away from lack of hauntings. But to scare people, there have to be people, and Fred will have to invite them in. With Spooky possessing him for moral (and physical) support, Fred stumbles his way through hosting his first-ever dinner party, complete with neighbor Malcolm, longtime crush Izzie, and a climactic supernatural spectacle. As Fred learns to open up and Spooky rediscovers his ghostly flair, this heartfelt comedy explores an unlikely friendship between the living and the dead.
