Project Synopsis
The Last Talent Show - A surreal comedy short film. An eccentric man desperate for connection and recognition decides to host a talent show the day before an asteroid is set to collide with the planet.
Character 1
Frank
Age
20's
Gender
Male
Description
Frank is a deeply awkward, eccentric man in his late 20’s. Tim Robinson or Connor O’Malley energy would be ideal. He is socially inept and lonely, desperate for human connection despite his inability to communicate these desires in a normal way. Frank has a passion for songwriting and when he discovers the world is due to end he decides to host a talent show to showcase a song he’s written. Despite his intentions, Frank has a general aura of discomfort and directness that can cause others to feel tension and awkward silence.
Character 2
Eric
Age
20's
Gender
Male
Description
Eric is a distant friend of Frank’s and a bit of a loner. He’s a yo-yo and industrial goth enthusiast (don’t worry, he sucks at yo-yo tricks). Although he acts aloof around Frank and Andrea, he clearly wants to connect with others and attends the talent show in a last ditch effort to do so.
Character 3
Andrea
Age
20's
Gender
Female
Description
Andrea initially appears as normal, alarmingly so, but her aura is similar to Frank; unsettlingly uncomfortable. From her initial vibe it should feel as though she’s out of place, but quickly her eccentric, unsettling energy should leak out. Her act for the talent show is a shitty interpretive dance, so bad dancing is absolutely an asset.
